We Never Thought We’d Be Doing This, But Here We Are: Part 2

Bob’s Point of View

Some people just have a knack for the kitchen, and Bob Nichols is one of these people.

Bob’s Service Standards:
🔹he’ll never serve you something he wouldn’t eat himself
🔹he’s willing to lean into new flavors in the kitchen and get creative
🔹he comes from a place of love and abundance when creating and serving food

Bob’s earliest memories involve food. Whether lending a hand to his grandma or cooking eggs for his family, he’s been active in the kitchen for over four decades.

Bob of Boki's Kitchen working

At age 15, he worked as a dishwasher at a local restaurant and quickly moved up to primary cook. While finishing high school, Bob was employed by Niemann Foods grocery store in Canton, MO. During his summers home through college, Bob worked at Ayerco in his hometown where he fried a whole lot of chicken. The grocery gigs continued as he held different roles at County Market in Canton for almost a decade. And yes— he gave us that smashburger experience we’ve come to know and enjoy from his time at Steak and Shake.

The truth? Niki knew of none of this when she first met Bob.

Uncovering Bob’s food service experiences layer by layer has been so satisfying.

Like the onion life is, Bob still remembers walking into Niki’s parents’ home for the first time—shocked by the walk-in cooler. Let me tell you about the summer of 2000 when Tom and Kathy put that walk-in cooler in. . . it was about the time Bob was at Ayerco frying about a thousand pieces of chicken for 4th of July 😮!

Life is funny in these ways, and we’re always excited to share our food experiences with one another— especially you.
